| DESCRIPTION | |

A 3-D comparison of oil production in November, 2004 and November, 2005. The stacked bars represent grid squares of approximately 15mi x 15mi in size. Given the timing of the hurricanes in August/September along with the availability of recent production data we determined that comparing the production from November 2004 with that of November 2005 offered the best 'apples- to-apples' snapshot comparison. |

Mousing over the top of each individual stack of bars will reveal the production figures for the wells in that particular 15mi x 15mi cell. Clicking on the small red icon that appears, will open a window
with two tables--1) A summary of production in that particular cell; 2) A breakdown of production for the top 5 operators in that cell.
# of Wells Reporting: The number of wells in cell for which production reports have been filed. A well with a production report filed does not have to have actual production. Days On The total days of production for all wells in cell Oil (bbl): The total quantity of oil produced, in barrels Operator: Current well operator | |

· Note the significant production in the deeper waters of the Gulf. Overlaying the 'Damaged Platforms' layer will show that the damage to Shell's Mars platform had a dramatic impact on production. · A small number of unofficial production reports from November, 2005 were incorporated that are not reflected in the annual production numbers. · Since a different scale factor was applied to annual production, it's inappropriate to make a direct visual comparison with the heights of the stacked bars in the November production totals. |
