Here are a few viewing tips to make help you get the
most out of your Google Earth viewing experience.

  Layer Information

The quickest way to get information about a layer and how to use it is to click on its title in the 'Places' panel on the left side of the Google Earth interface.

  Web Browser

It is recommended that you use Google Earth's internal web browser for this site. Go to 'Tools-->Options-->Preferences' and ensure that the box for the option 'Show web results in external browser' is unchecked.

  Folder Management

When viewing multiple layers simultaneously, clicking to view pop-up tables, etc., the 'Places' panel on the left-hand side can easily become a jumbled mess. Clicking on the arrows next to the folder names will collapse them and bring order to your display.

  Saving Files

One of the great advantages of Google Earth is the ease with which you can save overlays to your own machine and share them with co-workers or email them to clients. Right-clicking on the layer title will show a menu--choose the 'Save As' option and you'll be able to save the layer as a .KMZ file that can be re-distributed.

  Notice to Mac Users

There have been reports of our advanced spatial analysis tools not functioning correctly with the Mac platform. We are researching the issue and will post any workarounds we come across.

  **WARNING**

Google Earth makes intensive use of your graphics card. Older hardware may not be able to handle the load of image overlays, buffers, stacked columns, etc. See Google's own recommendations here for more information.
